Dell is assisting the Canadian social networking startup Arroware Industries Inc. modify the manner in which users connect and share social media files via a cloud-based application, myApollo, which will debut in the fall. MyApollo captures the unused power of its users’ hardware devices to store, sync, and stream media files, permitting users to create personal networks of trusted devices, like smartphones, laptops, desktops, or tablets through which they may connect and share files irrespective of platform or location, according to a press release.

On Thursday, Bank of America and its wholly owned subsidiaries Merrill Lynch & Co. and BAC Canada Finance Co. announced the expiration of their offers to acquire 11 series of their respective senior notes with maturities in 2014 for as much as $2.863 billion in cash. As of the expiration date for the maximum offer, which was 11:59 p.m. EST Wednesday, a total of roughly $6.2 billion in aggregate principal amount of the notes had been validly tendered and not withdrawn.

Himax Technologies Inc. reported its second-quarter net income rose by 29 percent while small and medium-size panel driver sales increased. Its adjusted profit exceeded Wall Street forecasts, but revenue missed, and the firm’s third-quarter revenue estimate disappointed as well. The firm earned $19.4 million, or 11 cents per share, for the period ended June 30, which is up from $15.1 million, or 9 cents per shares, year over year.
